On my Bookshelf...
Thomas Friedman (2006) The World is Flat. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, New York.  Very interesting read. Explores the impact of globalization, technology, and the reorganization of firm boundaries (i.e., outsourcing, insourcing, opensourcing, etc.). I enjoyed this book so much - it is covered with post its and comments - excellent read. Now in 3.0 edition.
Bob Littell (2003) The Heart and Art of Netweaving. Netweaving International Press, Atlanta GA. Beyond networking, paying it forward exchange of knowledge, information, and connections. You can do well by doing good. All profits donated to Pay it Forward Foundation.
William McDonough & Michael Braungart (2002) Cradle to Cradle, North Pointe Press, New York. Recommends beyond the box radical transformation of industry with through ecologically intelligent design - wonderful examples.
C.K. Prahalad. (2002) The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty through Profits. New York Excellent book with dvd to show real case examples of business as an agent of world benefit. My favorite is Jaipur Foot. Shows that entrepreneurs and large businesses can meet the needs of the ~5 billion people who are underserved because they are 'poor.' Prahalad argues with changes in technology and logistics, Inclusive Capitalism can be a way to end poverty as we know it. Companies can do well by dong good.
Erik Larson (2003) Devil in the White City, Vintage Press, New York. Edgar Award winner for best fact crime, transfixing story about American industry at Chicago's 1893 World Fair bid, preparation and event and interwoven with the true story of Dr. HH Holmes, a serial killer who used the Fair to recruit victims.
