Warren A. (Sonny) Rigas, senior vice president, has been named chief operating officer, Rigas will be responsible for a day-to-day management of FMC’s comprehensive health care system.
"Rigas has been doing a great job in handling many and varied aspects of hospital operations and it is time to recognize his key role at Floyd Medical Center," Kurt Stuenkel, president and CEO, said. "We look forward to continued growth and development with him in the role of COO."
Serving as FMC’s senior vice president since 1996, Rigas has managed and developed new operational initiatives to promote health system innovation and to improve performance. Prior to joining FMC, Rigas served as chief executive officer of Georgia Health Plus, a joint enterprise of FMC and the Harbin Clinic.
Rigas received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his master’s degree in business administration from Berry College.
Rigas is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Berry College Executive Advisory Council and the University of Tennessee Letterman’ Club. In the past, he has served on the boards of the Rome-Floyd County YMCA, the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth, Rotary Club of Rome and has served as medical services chairman for the United Way. He is a graduate of Leadership Rome and member of Youth for Christ.
Rigas and his wife, Judy, and their two children reside in Rome.
